Jeffrey A. Hartzel


Jeff is a recently retired owner in Morris, Kalish + Walgren, PC in Southfield, Michigan. Jeff had been with MKW for more than 26 years. Jeff graduated from Michigan State University in June 1978 with a BA in accounting, passed the CPA exam in November 1978 and became licensed in 1980.
 
Jeff has more than 40 years of diversified Accounting and Auditing experience with International (eight years), Regional (five years) and local CPA firms (27+ years). Jeff has wide ranging experience from small/local businesses to large international publicly traded companies.  He is experienced in auditing and accounting related to employee benefit plans, manufacturing entities, nonprofit entities, construction contractors, wholesalers, retailers, and professional firms.  Jeff is experienced in the application of LIFO inventories.
 
Jeff is an active Member of the AICPA and MICPA. Jeff is a past Chairman of the Accounting and Auditing Leadership Committee of the MICPA. He is an active member of the Accounting & Auditing Standards Task Force, which comments on professional standard exposure drafts; and, the Accounting and Auditing Conference Planning Task Force, which plans several of the MICPA’s annual conferences.  
 
Jeff participates as a discussion leader for MICPA Conference breakout sessions. Jeff occasionally teaches as an adjunct instructor at Walsh College in Troy, Michigan.
